1-Technical Tip: Inside Control

Hey guys, it’s Dennis and Ari, and I wanted to put out a technical tip. Especially in the morning classes, we do a lot of grip fighting and controls. And as you know, we do that a ton in Jiu-Jitsu. And these are more like no-gi controls. But let me just show you, starting off with the first drills that I love to do, and almost repeat them over and over. It’s called inside control.
The drill starts with, Ari puts his hands on me, and what I’m looking to do is swim inside, and my hands are looking to just go for bicep ties. Ari switches his hands, he puts them back on me, and I switch my hand. And what I’m looking to do is just put my hands here, so that I am looking for inside control, so any follow-ups that I have, any follow-ups, I’m opening his body, and I’m able to do those techniques from the inside.
So what is that? It’s where your hands swim under, and my palm goes to his bicep in here. Ari can swim through and put his hands on my chest or on my bicep, and this is a drill. We’re trying to get those hands to move quickly, so that we can move. And again, so that I can go for head ties, I showed you knees, I can go for throws, and I can just dominate the inside.
So there you go. That’s your technical tip.
